Guess what just happened at the Swimming World Championships in Budapest, Hungary? American swimmer Gretchen Walsh amazed everyone by breaking the women’s 100-meter butterfly world record not once, not twice, but three times! πππ
In swimming, a world record means someone swam faster than anyone ever has before in that race. Breaking one is a big deal, and Gretchen did it three times in a row!
It all started when Gretchen swam in the heats (that’s the first round of races to decide who moves on). She swam so fast that she set a new world record! Then, in the semifinals (the next round), she beat her own record again! π
But she wasn’t done yet. In the final race, Gretchen swam even faster, finishing the 100-meter butterfly in just 52.71 seconds! That’s quicker than you can say “fast fish”! π
She won the gold medal, of course. Silver went to Tessa Giele from the Netherlands, and bronze to Alexandria Perkins from Australia. They all did an amazing job! ποΈποΈποΈ
Gretchen’s incredible achievement shows that with hard work and determination, you can reach new heights (or in this case, new speeds)! Maybe one day, you’ll be setting records too. Keep dreaming big! π«
