Hey basketball fans! 🏀 Get ready for some thrilling games because the Xinjiang Flying Tigers are back on the court! 🎉 The second stage of the 2024-25 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) season starts this Wednesday, and the Flying Tigers are visiting the Shenzhen Leopards for an exciting matchup.
The Xinjiang Flying Tigers had an awesome first stage, and they’re aiming even higher now! 🚀 With some of their key players returning, the team is pumped up to give their best. Did you know they won the CBA championship in 2017? 🏆 That’s right! And even though some players have moved on, the team’s captain and current MVP, Abdusalam Abdurexit, is still leading the way.
Abdusalam is super proud of his team. He says, “I think club culture is key, especially considering our unique geographic location and team composition.”
What makes the Flying Tigers special? They represent the five northwest provinces and regions of China, and they have the most ethnic minority players in the entire league! 🌍 This diversity brings a unique spirit to the team.
At one point, up to 40% of the Flying Tigers were players from ethnic minorities, and now it’s about 30%. The club’s president, Guo Jian, says that the spirit of the team reflects the mindset of the people in Xinjiang. They have a positive attitude summed up by a local phrase: “Lao Dao” (pronounced ‘lao dao’).
“In Xinjiang, ‘Lao Dao‘ is a special term that means courage, determination, positivity, and perseverance,” says Guo. “It’s the heart and soul of our team. While we aim to win championships, we also focus on building a fearless and determined squad with a strong fighting spirit. This is the foundation of our club’s culture.” 💪
The Flying Tigers started from humble beginnings but have become a respected and powerful force in the CBA. They play with skill and never give up, showing pride for the Xinjiang region. They’re writing their story with hard work, perseverance, and teamwork. 🏀✨
