Just one day before turning 18, Zhang Qingying gave herself the best birthday gift ever—a gold medal! 🥇
At the National Gymnastics Championships in Nanning, south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Zhang, also known as “Big Zhang”, dazzled everyone with her amazing routines. She scored 54.333 points across all four events to win the women’s all-around title!
“I wasn’t that stable or confident as a gymnast years ago, but now I’ve grown up and gained more courage through daily hard training,” Zhang said, proudly holding her gold medal and a special silk ball she received. “I can’t dream of any better gift for my 18th birthday!” 🎂
Just two days earlier, Zhang led her team from Zhejiang to win the women’s team title. She’s on a roll! 🏆
The competition was tough. Seventeen-year-old Qin Xinyi earned the silver medal with a score of 54.099. She said, “After recent training, I feel that I’ve matured significantly. During the competition, I wasn’t that nervous and maintained a calm mindset.”
Coming in third was “Mini Zhang”—that’s Zhang Yihan—with a score of 53.232. She debuted a new floor routine and was happy with how it went. “Though they were not Olympic-standard, I still enjoyed my new routines and the atmosphere here,” she shared.
All three gymnasts achieved their personal best scores. That’s amazing! 🌟
