🏸 Get ready for an exciting badminton clash! China’s star players Shi Yuqi and Li Shifeng are set to face each other in the men’s singles semifinals at the All England Badminton Championships in Birmingham!
On Friday, the 29-year-old top seed Shi Yuqi won against Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew with scores of 21-18 and 21-16. Meanwhile, Li Shifeng defeated India’s Lakshya Sen 21-10 and 21-16.
This means Shi and Li will compete against each other on Saturday in a thrilling semifinal match! It’s a rematch of last year’s final, where Li Shifeng took home the championship in his very first appearance at the All England!
In the other men’s singles semifinal, French player Alex Lanier will play against Lee Chia-hao from Chinese Taipei. Alex Lanier is the only player from outside Asia to reach the semifinals! He won his match against Wang Tzu-wei of Chinese Taipei in straight games.
In the women’s singles, there was an intense match between China’s Tokyo Olympic champion Chen Yufei and South Korea’s top seed An Se-young. An won with scores of 21-9 and 21-14. She will now face Japan’s ace, Akane Yamaguchi, in the semifinals. Akane beat her teammate Tomoka Miyazaki 26-24 and 21-16.
