Big Changes in South Korea’s Government: What’s Going On? 🤔
Hey there! Have you ever wondered what happens when leaders in a country are told to step down? Well, something like that is happening right now in South Korea, and we’re here to explain it to you.
So, South Korea has a president named Yoon Suk-yeol. Recently, some people in the government weren’t happy with how he was doing his job. Because of that, they decided to impeach him. Impeachment is when the government officially accuses a leader of doing something wrong and tries to remove them from their position.
While President Yoon is being investigated, he’s not allowed to do his job. That means someone else has to step in as the acting president. That person is Choi Sang-mok. But guess what? Now, Choi Sang-mok is also being investigated by the police! 😮
Why? Well, it’s because they think he might have done something wrong related to a special meeting where they talked about martial law. Martial law is when the military takes over control to keep order in an emergency. Some people believe that declaring martial law wasn’t the right thing to do.
Another leader, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, is also being asked questions by the police. He was impeached too because he didn’t appoint some important judges who are needed to decide about President Yoon’s impeachment.
All these changes mean that South Korea is going through some big government adjustments! The country’s Constitutional Court will decide if President Yoon should be removed from office. They have up to 180 days (that’s about six months) to make this decision.
It’s a bit like when there’s a disagreement in a school, and the teachers have to figure out what’s best for everyone. We’ll have to wait and see what happens next in South Korea! Stay tuned! 📺
