China's 41st Antarctic expedition ships set to sail to Qinling Station

China’s ‘Snow Dragon’ Ships Sail to Build New Antarctic Station! 🐉❄️

Hey kids! Did you know that China has special ships called “Snow Dragons”? 🐉❄️ These amazing ships are on a big adventure to Antarctica, the icy continent at the bottom of the Earth! 🗺️🌨️

Two ships, the Xuelong 2 and the cargo ship Yong Sheng, have met up in Antarctica. Their mission? To help build a brand-new research station called Qinling Station! 🏗️🏠

Xuelong 2 (which means “Snow Dragon 2” in Chinese) is an icebreaker ship. That means it can smash through thick ice! 🧊💥 It’s China’s first icebreaker built all by themselves. How cool is that? 🚢❄️

The Yong Sheng is carrying tons of building materials—about 16,000 cubic meters! That’s like filling up over six Olympic-sized swimming pools! 🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

Together, these ships will navigate through the icy waters. Xuelong 2 will break the ice and lead the way for Yong Sheng to reach Qinling Station. There, the team will start building new facilities and setting up equipment for scientific research. 🔬🔭

Earlier, Xuelong 2 left from Guangzhou on November 1 with its older sister ship, Xuelong. They arrived at Zhongshan Station, China’s largest Antarctic research base, to deliver supplies and help with research. 🚢📦

This big expedition is organized by China’s Ministry of Natural Resources, and it’s part of China’s 41st mission to explore Antarctica! 🌏🚀

Isn’t it amazing how people from around the world explore and study this frozen wonderland? Maybe one day, you’ll be part of an Antarctic adventure too! ❄️👩‍🔬👨‍🔬
