Hey there! Have you heard the big news? Russia and Ukraine have swapped hundreds of prisoners, allowing many soldiers and even some civilians to return home to their families! 🎉
On Monday, both countries agreed to exchange 150 prisoners from each side. This means 150 people from Russia and 150 people from Ukraine got to go back home. Isn’t that amazing? 😊
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that 187 soldiers and 2 civilians who were captured in places like Mariupol and Snake Island have returned to Ukraine. These brave people had been defending important places like the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and other key locations. 🇺🇦
Did you know that the United Arab Emirates (a country in the Middle East) helped make this exchange happen? 🤔 The UAE acted as a mediator, which means they helped both sides agree on the swap. This was the 10th time they helped Russia and Ukraine exchange prisoners this year! 🌍
So far, Russia and Ukraine have conducted 59 prisoner exchanges since their conflict began. That’s a lot of people who got to go back to their loved ones! ❤️
