Guess what? Tesla’s new Megafactory in Shanghai has started making giant batteries called Megapacks! 🔋 These super-sized batteries can store lots of energy, helping to use more clean energy like solar and wind power.
This Megafactory is Tesla’s second plant in Shanghai. It’s huge—about 200,000 square meters, which is like 28 soccer fields! 🏟️ And they’ve invested about 1.45 billion yuan (that’s around $198.7 million) to build it.
The factory plans to make 10,000 Megapacks every year, which equals around 40 gigawatt-hours of energy storage. That’s a lot of power! ⚡ Mass production is expected to start fully in early 2025.
What’s really cool is that this factory shows how China and the United States are working together to fight climate change. 🌍 By making these big batteries, they can store clean energy and reduce pollution.
Wu Qisheng, a researcher in Shanghai, says this project shows Tesla’s confidence in China’s manufacturing skills and strengthens the economic ties between the two countries in the new energy sector.
Isn’t it amazing to see how technology can help make the world a better place? Maybe one day, your home could be powered by clean energy stored in a Megapack! 🚀
