Because they have so many elderly people, China wants to make sure they are happy and well taken care of. Here are some cool things they’re doing:
- Home Sweet Home Care: Many seniors prefer to stay in their own homes. In 2024, China spent 300 million yuan (that’s over 41 million US dollars!) to support meal programs for the elderly, so they can have delicious and healthy food delivered right to their door. 🍲🚚
- Cozy Beds at Home: They set up 358,000 in-home care beds! This means caregivers can come to seniors’ homes to help them with things like cleaning, cooking, and other daily activities. 🛌🏠
- Special Care Centers: By October 2024, China had 404,000 elderly care institutions and facilities. These are places where seniors can go to get extra help, make friends, and join fun activities. 🎉🏢
