In a place called Gaza, which is a small area in the Middle East, there’s been a lot of fighting lately between two groups: Israel and Hamas. Recently, Israeli soldiers went into a hospital in northern Gaza called Kamal Adwan Hospital.
They detained (which means they took into custody) more than 240 people, including doctors and nurses who work there. They also took the hospital’s director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya.
The Israeli military says they did this because they believe some people were using the hospital for bad purposes, like planning attacks. They think that some members of a group called Hamas were hiding there. But Hamas says that none of their fighters were in the hospital.
The World Health Organization (WHO), which helps make sure people around the world can get healthcare, is very worried. They said that attacking hospitals and stopping them from helping people is very bad and puts many lives at risk.
Because of this raid, some patients who were sick or injured had to be moved to other places. Some were taken to another hospital, but it’s not working properly right now. Others went to different medical centers.
There’s been a lot of conflict between Israel and Hamas since October 7, 2023, when Hamas attacked areas in southern Israel. Since then, many people have been hurt or had to leave their homes. The fighting has caused a lot of damage, and many families are affected.
It’s important to remember that during conflicts, ordinary people, like kids and families, often suffer the most. Organizations around the world are calling for peace and for everyone to be safe.
