Athens Deputy Mayor Marvels at Beijing’s Blend of History and Modernity

Hey there!

Imagine living in a city where ancient palaces and towering skyscrapers stand side by side! 🏰🌇 That’s exactly what the Deputy Mayor of Athens, Andreas Grammatikogiannis, discovered when he visited Beijing.

At the 2024 Beijing Forum on Swift Response to Public Complaints (that’s a big meeting where leaders talk about helping people quickly!), Mr. Grammatikogiannis shared his excitement about Beijing. He called it an “open space museum” because everywhere you go, there’s a mix of historic landmarks and modern buildings!

He was amazed by places like Tian’anmen Square and the Great Wall 🏯, which have been around for hundreds or even thousands of years. And right next to them, there are shiny new buildings and bustling city life.

“It’s so cool how Beijing keeps its history alive while growing into a modern city!” he said.

Isn’t it awesome to think about how cities can honor their past while embracing the future? Maybe one day, you’ll visit Beijing and see this incredible blend for yourself! ✈️
