Hey everyone! Have you heard the news about Syria?
On December 8, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had to leave his country and go to Russia. This happened because his military base called Hmeimim was attacked by drones! 😲
Earlier that day, President Assad left the capital city, Damascus. But things got dangerous because opposition fighters were getting closer. Opposition fighters are people who are fighting against the government.
Because of the danger, President Assad was evacuated (that means he was safely moved) to Russia. The news was shared on the Syrian presidency’s Telegram channel, which is like a messaging app where they post official announcements.
This all happened on December 8, but the statement was dated December 16 from Moscow, which is the capital city of Russia.
It’s a big event because it’s not every day that a country’s leader has to leave because of attacks! Let’s hope for peace soon. ✌️
