On December 13th, people all over China gathered to remember a very sad event that happened many years ago. In 1937, during World War II, the city of Nanjing was captured, and many innocent people lost their lives. Around 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers were killed during the Nanjing Massacre, making it one of the most tragic times in history.

Every year, China holds a special ceremony to honor those who died and to hope for a peaceful future. On this day, at exactly 10:01 a.m., loud sirens echoed through the city. ๐Ÿ›Ž๏ธ Cars stopped, and people stood still to have a moment of silence. Even drivers honked their horns to show respect.

At the Memorial Hall in Nanjing, over 80 young people read a declaration of peace out loud. Then, they rang the big Bell of Peace, and white doves were released into the sky, symbolizing hope and peace. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

The national flag was flown at half-mast, which is a way to show mourning and respect. People visited the Memorial Hall, which is built on a burial site for the victims. Many visitors wrote comments like “history,” “peace,” and “remember” to show their feelings.

It’s important for us to learn about history so we can make sure such sad events never happen again. By remembering the past, we can work together for a better and more peaceful future. ๐ŸŒโœŒ๏ธ
