Chinese Scientist Lu Qi Wins Top UN Environment Award! ๐๐
Hey kids! Have you ever heard of someone who plants so many trees that it helps save the planet? ๐ฒ๐ณ Well, meet Dr. Lu Qi from China! He just won the 2024 United Nations Champions of the Earth Award, which is like getting a gold medal for helping the Earth! ๐ฅ
For over 30 years, Dr. Lu has been working hard to stop deserts from growing bigger. Deserts are places with lots of sand and little water. When they spread, they can cover up farms and homes. That’s not good! ๐ฎ
So, Dr. Lu and his team planted millions of trees to stop the sand from spreading. This is called afforestation (a-faw-res-tay-shun). It means planting new forests where there weren’t any before! ๐ฒ๐ณ๐ด
Thanks to his work, China has the world’s largest tree-planting project! And guess what? The land is becoming green again! ๐ฟ๐
Dr. Lu says this award isn’t just for him. It’s for all the people who care about nature and work hard to protect it. He wants young people like you to help take care of the Earth too! ๐โค๏ธ
He also dreams of countries working together to make the whole world greener. He talks about building “Great Green Walls” to stop deserts in different places. Isn’t that cool? ๐งฑ๐ต
Other amazing people won the award too! They are from Brazil, the United States, Romania, India, and Egypt. They all do awesome things to protect nature. ๐๐
The United Nations gives this award to people who do fantastic work to help the environment. They want everyone to know that we can fix problems like land turning into desert if we all work together! ๐ค
Remember, you can help the planet too! Maybe plant a tree, recycle, or just learn more about nature. Every little bit counts! ๐ฑ๐
