Ukraine Hopes for New Peace Talks, Russia Not Ready Yet

Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, wants to have new peace talks with Russia next week. That means they want to sit down and discuss how to stop fighting and make peace. ✌️

Zelenskyy said he really wants to speed up these talks so they can have a ceasefire. A ceasefire is when both sides agree to stop fighting for a while. Sounds like a good idea, right?

But Russia hasn’t agreed to a date yet. They said they got the invitation but haven’t decided when to meet. 🤔

Earlier this year, Ukraine and Russia had two rounds of talks in Istanbul, Türkiye. They agreed to swap prisoners, but didn’t make big progress in ending the conflict that’s been going on for over a year now! 😮

President Zelenskyy said, “Everything should be done to achieve a ceasefire. The Russian side should stop hiding from decisions.” He’s really pushing for peace!

Meanwhile, both countries are using lots of drones. Drones are like small, remote-controlled airplanes without pilots. They’re using them to try to defend themselves and sometimes to overwhelm each other’s defenses. On Saturday, both sides said they stopped hundreds of drones! 🚁
