Meet Liu and Wang: A Story of Unbreakable Love

Once upon a time in Beijing, two teenagers named Liu and Wang met when they were both just 16 years old. Little did they know, their love story would inspire thousands of people around the world!

What Is ALS?

ALS stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It’s a tough disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Over time, it makes it hard for people to walk, talk, eat, and even breathe. Most people with ALS live for about 3 to 5 years after they’re diagnosed.

Liu’s Brave Battle ๐Ÿ’ช

Liu was diagnosed with ALS over 19 years ago! Despite the challenges, he refused to give up. In just three and a half years, he lost his ability to eat, walk, and speak. He even had to have a special surgery to help him breathe better. But guess what? He’s still fighting strong!

A Superhero Partner: Wang ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™€๏ธ

When Liu got sick, Wang became his full-time caregiver. She learned everything she could about ALS to help Liu. She even became as skilled as a nurse! Wang doesn’t just take care of Liu; she helps others too.

Helping Others: The ORACC ๐ŸŒˆ

Together, Liu and Wang started the Oriental Rain ALS Care Center (ORACC), the first ALS patient organization in the Chinese mainland! They wanted to help other people dealing with ALS. Wang also co-wrote their first ALS rehabilitation guide with a famous doctor named Professor Fan Dongsheng.

Making a Big Difference ๐ŸŒŸ

Thanks to their hard work, they’ve supported more than 4,000 ALS patients! They’ve given hope to thousands of families facing this rare disease. Isn’t that amazing?
