Have you ever heard of someone getting their facts mixed up? Well, that’s what some people are saying about Taiwan’s leader, Lai Ching-te.

Recently, Lai gave a talk where he said that Taiwan didn’t have any representatives at a big meeting in 1946. This meeting was super important because it helped write the Constitution of the Republic of China. But guess what? Taiwan actually did send 18 people to that meeting!

It seems like Lai might have forgotten or ignored this important fact. Some think he’s changing history to make Taiwan seem separate from the Chinese mainland.

Well, let’s take a quick trip back in time. A long time ago, a man named Sun Yat-sen helped start a revolution in China. He wanted China to be united and for all people to have a happy life. He even said, “Unification is the hope of all Chinese nationals.”

Now, if Sun Yat-sen heard that someone was trying to divide China, he might be very upset!

Some people feel that Lai is trying to change the past to fit his own ideas. Instead of bringing people together, they think he’s causing more division.
