Hey there! ❄️ Can you imagine waking up to a snowy day but finding out the lights won’t turn on? That’s what’s happening to over 170,000 homes in western France right now! Heavy snowfall from Storm Caetano has caused big problems.
The French Minister of Energy Transition, Agnes Pannier-Runacher, said that more than 1,400 workers 🚧 are out there trying to fix the power lines. But the storm is still going strong, so more homes might lose electricity.
Not only that, but the snow is making travel tricky too! ✈️ At Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport, flights are delayed, and airlines had to cancel 10% of flights because of the bad weather. The trains 🚆 aren’t running smoothly either—some high-speed trains in western and southwestern France are stopped or running less often to keep people safe.
The weather service, Meteo-France, gave an Orange alert 🟠 (that’s the second-highest warning!) for 56 out of 96 areas in France because of strong winds and heavy snow. They also warned that the temperatures are dropping below freezing, which means black ice could form on roads. Yikes! 🥶
If you’re in France or know someone who is, make sure to stay warm, be careful on the roads, and maybe enjoy building a snowman—but stay safe! ☃️
