China and Hungary Meet to Discuss Human Rights π
Hey everyone! Have you heard about the big meeting between China and Hungary? π¨π³ππΊ Experts, officials, and scholars from both countries got together in Budapest, Hungary’s capital city, to talk about human rights. But what does that mean?
Well, human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world. Things like the right to go to school, to be treated equally, and to live safely. Pretty important stuff, right?
This meeting was called a symposium (that’s a fancy word for a big discussion). The theme was “Consensus on International Human Rights: Retrospect of the Past 80 Years and Prospects of the Future.” Basically, they looked back at how human rights have changed over the last 80 years since the United Nations was founded, and they talked about how they can keep improving in the future.
Mr. Baima Chilin, the president of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, said it’s super important to learn from history and work together. He believes that mutual respect (that’s when everyone respects each other), teamwork, and fairness are the keys to making human rights better for everyone.
The Chinese Ambassador to Hungary, Mr. Gong Tao, mentioned that both China and Hungary follow the main ideas of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. That’s a special document that lists all the basic rights everyone should have. He also said that both countries don’t like it when human rights are used for political reasons. Instead, they think countries should respect each other’s traditions and work together to solve big problems.
Mr. Gyula Thurmer, who is the president of the Hungarian Workers’ Party, showed his support for China’s ideas on human rights. He talked about building a new world where everyone is treated equally and cooperates for a better future.
Another speaker, Mr. Andras Bencsik, the editor-in-chief of a Hungarian magazine called Magyar Demokrata, talked about how important it is for people to live meaningful lives filled with respect and dignity. He said that even though we might look different or speak different languages, we all share the same hopes and dreams.
The symposium was co-hosted by the China Society for Human Rights Studies, the Chinese Embassy in Hungary, and the Eurasia Center. It’s great to see countries coming together to talk about making the world a better place! πβ€οΈ
