Have you ever wondered what life is like in the faraway lands of Xinjiang? Meet Alading Asihali, a young musical theater actor from northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, who is on a mission to show the world the true colors of his homeland!
π€ Singing His Heart Out
Alading has created an amazing song called “Dream Quest: Xinjiang.” It’s not just any songβit’s a mix of pop music and musical theater, sprinkled with the unique sounds and rhythms of Xinjiang’s local melodies. Imagine starting a song with a powerful roar like in “The Lion King” and then wanting to jump up and dance! That’s exactly what Alading aims for.
“I want everyone to see what Xinjiang is really like,” he says. “Instead of listening to what others say, why not come see it for yourself?”
π A Visual Adventure
The music video for his song is like a travel diary through Xinjiang’s most beautiful spots. From the lively Grand Bazaar in Urumqi to the peaceful waters of Sayram Lake, the video showcases stunning landscapes and vibrant cultures.
“It was my first time visiting Sayram Lake, and I was blown away by the natural beauty,” Alading shares. “People always say they want to visit Europe, but the landscapes in Xinjiang are just as stunning.”
π‘ Breaking Stereotypes
When Alading studied in Beijing, he noticed that many people had funny ideas about his hometown. Some even joked if he rode horses to take exams! Instead of getting upset, he decided to show them the real Xinjiang through his music.
“Why not write a song and show them what Xinjiang is really like?” he thought. And that’s exactly what he did!
π Big Dreams Ahead
But Alading isn’t stopping there. He dreams of creating a whole musical about Xinjiang, featuring stories and music from different ethnic groups like the Uygur, Tajik, and Kazakh people.
“I want to focus on the lives of young people in today’s Xinjiang and how they live in a modern society,” he explains. “China has forged its own path, and we can offer something different to the world.”
β€οΈ Home Is Where the Heart Is
So, what does Xinjiang mean to Alading? “It’s probably my mom’s freshly baked pumpkin buns, or the sound of my grandmother speaking Uygur, or that irresistible aroma of naan bread just out of the oven,” he says with a smile.
Through his music and passion, Alading is inviting everyone to experience the magic of Xinjiang. Will you join him on this incredible journey?
