Zheng Qinwen’s Epic French Open Run Ends Against World No. 1 Sabalenka

Hey there, tennis fans! 🎾 Have you heard about Zheng Qinwen’s amazing journey at the French Open this year?

Zheng Qinwen, a talented 20-year-old tennis player from the Chinese mainland, had an incredible run at the French Open in Paris. She faced off against the World No. 1, Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus, in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

The match was super exciting! Zheng started strong, breaking Sabalenka’s serve early and leading 3-1 in the first set. Breaking serve means she won a game when her opponent was serving—that’s a big deal in tennis!

But Sabalenka didn’t give up. She fought back, and even though Zheng played bravely, Sabalenka managed to win the first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6.

In the second set, Zheng tried her best, but Sabalenka used her experience to win 6-3, ending the match. Zheng showed great skill and spirit on the court, and even though she didn’t win this time, she made fans around the world proud! 🌟

After the match, Zheng said, “I think my game plan went quite well, but I got a bit tight.” That means she felt nervous during important moments. She added, “I’m not able today to stick to my game plan from the beginning until the end.”

On the other side, Sabalenka praised Zheng’s performance, saying, “That was a true battle, and honestly I have no idea how I was able to break her back and get back in the first set.”

Sabalenka will now face Iga Swiatek from Poland, the defending champion, in the semifinals. It’s going to be another thrilling match!

Let’s cheer for Zheng Qinwen’s fantastic effort and look forward to seeing her in future tournaments. Way to go, Zheng! 🎉
