Hey everyone! 👋 Have you ever heard stories from your grandparents about how different life was when they were young? Let me tell you about an amazing lady named Tsering who is 82 years old.
When Tsering was just 10 years old, her life was really tough. Her mom passed away, and there was no one to take care of her. So, she was sent to work on an estate. Back then, in the old society, many people like Tsering were called serfs. Serfs were a bit like farmers who worked on someone else’s land, but they didn’t have freedom to make choices about their own lives. 😔
There was a saying, “Life is given by one’s parents, but a person’s body belongs to the overlords.” This means that even though your parents bring you into the world, powerful people called overlords controlled everything you did.
For Tsering, this meant she couldn’t choose who to marry or what to do. She met a boy who worked on the same estate. They liked each other a lot! 💕 But because they were serfs, they weren’t allowed to be together. The overlords decided everything, and the serfs had to obey.
But then, something wonderful happened! After the liberation, which was when people were given more freedoms and rights, Tsering and her special friend were finally able to be together. ❤️ They didn’t have to listen to the overlords anymore. They could make their own choices and live their own lives.
Tsering says, “We couldn’t be together in the old society. But we could be together after liberation.” Isn’t that amazing? Her story shows us how important freedom is and how much things can change for the better!
It’s inspiring to hear Tsering’s story and remember how lucky we are to make our own choices today. Let’s appreciate our freedoms and always stand up for what’s right! 🌟
