This special robe was found in a tomb in Mawangdui, in the Hunan Province of China. Back then, nobles wore these fancy robes decorated with printed branches, tendrils, buds, flowers, and leaves. It shows how skilled the ancient Chinese were at weaving, printing, and dyeing fabrics. 🎨👘
But here’s the problem: after 2,000 years, the robe was fragile, damaged, and stained. It was really hard for researchers to see what it originally looked like. So, what did they do?
He Ye, the head of the data center at the Hunan Museum, said, “We have studied these relics for a long time. We used photographing, scanning, and 3D modeling to collect all kinds of data about the robe.” 📷📊
They used digital modeling and AI tools to fix the damaged parts and recreate the robe’s original look. Now, they’ve made two super cool 3D images: one shows how the robe looks now, and the other shows how it looked 2,000 years ago! You can even view it from all angles, like a virtual reality simulation. 🤖✨
“By comparing the two models, visitors can see how the garment changed over 2,000 years,” He Ye explained. Isn’t that awesome?
