Hey there! Have you heard about what’s happening between Ukraine and Russia? Well, here’s the latest news!
On Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy went to Ankara, the capital of Turkey ๐น๐ท. He met with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to talk about ways to end the conflict between Ukraine ๐บ๐ฆ and Russia ๐ท๐บ.
Zelenskyy said he’s ready to have peace talks with Russia in Istanbul (a big city in Turkey), but only if Russian President Vladimir Putin also joins. He said, “I’m waiting to see who will come from Russia, and then I’ll decide which steps Ukraine should take.”
But guess what? The Kremlin (that’s like Russia’s White House ๐ฐ) announced that President Putin won’t be attending the talks. Instead, Russia will be represented by Vladimir Medinsky, a presidential aide.
Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said, “The talks to be held in Istanbul will hopefully lead us to open a new page.” That means they’re hoping for a fresh start to find peace!
The last time Ukraine and Russia had direct talks in Istanbul was back in March 2022, but they couldn’t agree to stop the fighting then. Let’s hope this time things go better! ๐
It’s a big deal because peace would mean safer lives for many people. Do you think they’ll be able to find a solution? Let’s keep our fingers crossed! ๐ค
