China flexed its muscles at the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Quzhou, east China’s Zhejiang Province! ποΈββοΈπ The home team grabbed an amazing 31 gold medals, 15 silvers, and 11 bronzes. Wow!
On the final day, world champion Li Yan was unstoppable in the women’s +87kg category. She faced tough competition from Park Hye-jeong of South Korea, who won silver at the Paris Olympics.
“The results might seem close on paper, but I knew I had the edge,” said Li Yan confidently.
Li proved her strength by lifting 135kg in the snatch on her first try, clinching the gold! She then lifted 140kg, finishing a huge 15kg ahead of Park. South Korea’s Son Young-hee took the bronze with 121kg.
In the clean and jerk, Li lifted 162kg and 170kg, securing gold again. Her total weight was an incredible 310kg! π₯ Park won silver with a total of 285kg, and Son earned bronze with 282kg.
In the men’s +109kg category, South Korea’s Hwang Woo-man won the snatch gold with a lift of 196kg. Iran’s Sharifikelarijani Ayat shined in the clean and jerk and total categories, lifting 227kg and totaling 422kg for two gold medals!
