Hong Kong Welcomes Skilled Workers from the Chinese Mainland π
Hey there! Did you know that Hong Kong has been inviting talented people from the Chinese mainland to come and work there? Over the past two years, they received more than 53,000 applications, and guess what? Almost 90% of them were approved! π
What Is This All About?
Hong Kong has special programs to bring in people with skills to help the city grow and develop. One of these programs is called the Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals (ASMTP). It’s like a big welcome party for skilled workers from the Chinese mainland!
Short-Term and Long-Term Jobs
Some people come to Hong Kong for short-term jobs, like less than a year, while others stay longer. Under the ASMTP, about 46% of the approved applicants had short-term positions, and about 54% had long-term positions. That’s a lot of new friends joining the city! π€
What Jobs Are They Doing?
The people coming to Hong Kong are working in many different areas. For long-term jobs under the ASMTP, most are in commerce and trade, financial services, and academic research and education. They’re helping Hong Kong in so many cool ways! β¨
How Much Are They Earning?
Most of the new workers are earning between 20,000 to 39,999 Hong Kong dollars each month (that’s about $2,578 to $5,155 in U.S. dollars). Some are earning even more! π°
Other Awesome Programs
There’s also another program called the General Employment Policy (GEP), which brings in talented people from other places. They received over 67,000 applications in the past two years, and most were approved too!
Why Is This Important?
By welcoming talented people, Hong Kong can continue to be a vibrant and exciting place. These skilled workers help in different industries, making the city better for everyone who lives there. Isn’t it great when people work together to make things awesome? π
