Taiwan residents rally against DPP authorities' 'dictatorship'

Over 250,000 People Rally in Taipei for Change ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

In Taipei, despite the rain, more than 250,000 people came together to ask for change on Saturday. They were worried about how the current authorities are leading the island.

Leaders from different groups joined the crowd. Eric Chu, the Chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT), and former Chairman Ma Ying-jeou were there. Huang Kuo-chang, Chairman of the Taiwan People’s Party, along with other important local figures, also took part.

The people gathered because they feel that the current leader, Lai Ching-te, is dividing the community and not listening to everyone’s voices. Eric Chu said that since Lai Ching-te took office in May last year, he has been causing disagreements and acting for his own interests.

Huang Kuo-chang agreed and said that the recent actions by the authorities are making things unfair. He worries that it’s becoming a place where only those who support the leader can do well, which is sad for the island.

Ma Ying-jeou warned that if this continues, it could lead to bigger problems in the future across the Taiwan Strait. Lu Shiow-yen, the mayor of Taichung, asked Lai Ching-te to listen to the people and focus on helping the economy instead of politics.

The rally ended with the crowd chanting “Lai Ching-te, step down!” together.
