Hey basketball fans! 🏀 Guess what? China just announced their 28-player women’s basketball team for the upcoming FIBA Women’s Asia Cup! 🎉
This team is packed with amazing talent, including superstar center Li Yueru, who currently plays in the Turkish league! 🌟
The recent finalists from the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) league, Dongguan and Sichuan, have four players each on the roster. That’s eight players from the top two teams! 😲
From Dongguan, we have Huang Sijing, Yang Liwei, Yang Shuyu, and Chen Mingling. From Sichuan, there are Han Xu, Li Meng, Wang Siyu, and Jia Saiqi. These players are some of the best in China! 🏆
Other standout players like Pan Zhenqi, Li Yuan, Zhang Ru, and the young prospect Zhang Ziyu are also on the list. Talk about a dream team! 😍
The head coach, Gong Luming, said they’re not just focusing on star players now but also looking ahead to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles! 🇺🇸
“We want all excellent players to join the national team training. Hopefully, through training, we can select the best players to participate in major competitions,” Coach Gong said.
The team’s goal at the Women’s Asia Cup is to win the title! 🏅 The tournament will be held in Shenzhen, a big city in south China’s Guangdong Province, from July 13 to 20.
The team will start training in Kunming, a city in southwest China’s Yunnan Province, from April 20 to May 18. Then they’ll head back to Beijing for more training from May 19 to June 10.
They’ve got six warm-up games planned between early June and early July. After that, they’ll arrive in Shenzhen on July 10 to get ready for the big tournament! 🏀🔥
