China’s ‘Green Great Wall’ Shines at UN Desert Conference 🌵🌍
Hey everyone! Did you know that deserts are getting bigger in some parts of the world? 😮 But here’s some great news! China has been working super hard to stop deserts from spreading, and they’re showing off their amazing work at a big conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 🇨🇳🇸🇦
The conference is called the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), and it’s the biggest land-focused event ever! 🌐 For the first time, it’s happening in the Middle East and North Africa. Countries from all over are coming together to find ways to make our lands healthier and greener. 🌳
China’s pavilion at the conference is huge—over 600 square meters! It’s the second-largest of all the countries there. Inside, they’re showcasing their “Green Great Wall,” a massive project to plant trees and stop the deserts from growing. 🌲🌲 This project is officially called the Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program.
Andrea Meza Murillo, a leader from the UN, praised China for all its hard work. She was impressed by how generations of Chinese people have been fighting against desertification. She said China’s success comes from good plans, communities working together, and using cool new technology. 👏
Mr. Guan Zhi’ou, who leads China’s efforts, said that China wants to share its experience and help other countries make the land green again. 🌱 China has been part of this global effort for 30 years!
The Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Chang Hua, talked about how China and Saudi Arabia are teaming up to fight desertification and develop renewable energy like solar power. ☀️💡
At the conference, countries will make plans to heal the land, protect soil, and grow food in ways that are good for nature. They aim to make big changes by 2030 and beyond. Let’s cheer them on! 🎉
Remember, every little action counts. You can help by planting trees, saving water, and learning more about our amazing planet! 🌎💚
