The lion dance is an amazing traditional Chinese performance that’s full of energy and excitement. It’s often seen during big festivals like the Spring Festival (also known as Chinese New Year). The dancers dress up in giant, colorful lion costumes and move to the beat of drums and cymbals. It’s like watching a lion come to life!
Recently, we went to Foshan, a city in China that’s famous as the birthplace of the lion dance. While we were there, we met a father and daughter from Portugal who were visiting the city. We asked them what they thought about the lion dance.
The father said, “It’s incredible! I’ve never seen anything like it before.” His daughter added, “The lions are so cool, and the music makes me want to dance too!” 🎶
