Finns Worry About Safety as U.S. Policies Change
Hi there! π Did you know that many people in Finland are feeling worried about safety lately? Let’s find out why.
A recent survey showed that two out of three people in Finland are concerned about the safety of their country and Europe. This means that if you ask three people, two of them might say they are worried!
Why are they worried? Well, it has to do with changes in the United States’ policies under President Donald Trump. Some of these changes include less support for NATO, which is a group of countries that have agreed to protect each other, and new tariffs, which are taxes on goods from other countries.
More women than men in Finland are feeling worried. About 73% of women said they are concerned, compared to 59% of men.
Different political groups also feel differently. More people who support the Left Alliance party are worried compared to those who support the Finns Party.
Experts say that President Trump’s unpredictable actions are making people feel uneasy. A political science teacher named Juha Vuori said, “People thought being part of NATO would make Finland safer, but now Trump’s actions are changing how people feel.”
This concern isn’t just in Finland. In other places like Britain and Germany, many people are also worried. A study showed that almost half of the people in those countries see President Trump as a big threat to Europe’s safety.
It’s important to understand what’s happening in the world so we can all work together for a safer future! ππͺ
