Hey there! π Did you hear about the big cleanup happening in Kenya? Let’s dive in! π
The Nairobi River, which flows right through Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi, has been very polluted for a long time. That means it’s dirty and not safe for people or animals. But things are about to change! ποΈ
Kenya’s President, William Ruto, kicked off a huge project to clean up and restore the Nairobi River. And guess what? A company from the Chinese mainland called Energy China is leading the way! π°πͺπ¨π³
This project isn’t just about cleaning the river. They are also going to build new homes that are affordable, which means people can buy or rent them without spending too much money. π The whole project will cost about 50 billion Kenyan shillings (that’s around $388 million)! π°
President Ruto said that cleaning up the river will create new jobs, help people stay healthy, and make the city beautiful again. “This project will help us make Nairobi a cleaner and more respectable city,” he said. π
They will build a long sewer line to carry dirty water away, clean up the riverbanks, plant trees, and make parks where people can relax. π³ They will also build new homes for people who lost their houses because of floods. π‘
Energy China will use cool technologies and work with people who live there to get the job done faster. π Li Cheng, a manager at Energy China, said it will take about two years to finish the river cleanup. ποΈ
This big project will help the environment, make life better for people in Nairobi, and maybe even bring more tourists to visit! π¦π
Isn’t it amazing what we can do when countries work together to help the planet? ππ
