From Beijing to South China Sea: A 3,300-kilometer 'cloud classroom'

From Beijing to Yongxing Island: 3,300 km ‘Cloud Classroom’ Connects Students! πŸ“šπŸŒ

Hi there, young explorers! 🌟

Imagine going to school and having a teacher teach you from a city that’s 3,300 kilometers away! Sounds amazing, right? Well, that’s exactly what’s happening at Yongxing School, located on Yongxing Island in China’s southernmost city of Sansha. 🏝️

Thanks to super cool technology, students like Cai Jiayu are now attending classes taught by teachers all the way in Beijing! After a fun music class, Cai excitedly shared, “Today, I learned a Beijing nursery rhyme and sang songs with the teacher. I hope I can visit Beijing someday.” 🎢

The class was taught by Ms. Wang Jin, a music teacher from the Experimental Primary School of Beijing Normal University. She brought the sounds and culture of Beijing right into the island classroom! 🏫

Cai’s classmate, Yang Juncheng, also loved the experience. “I love learning this way. The teacher on the screen always introduces us to something new,” he said. 🌐

Yongxing School used to have a hard time finding teachers because it’s so far away from big cities. But in 2029, everything changed when they teamed up with the school in Beijing. They’ve also upgraded their internet and computers to make online learning even better! πŸ’»

“Since October 2022, we’ve had 155 online learning sessions!” said Mr. Guo Xing, the principal of Yongxing School. “We’re connecting with schools outside Hainan Province to bring even more awesome lessons to our students.” πŸ“ˆ

This amazing “cloud classroom” idea is spreading across China. It’s helping kids in remote areas learn from teachers they might never have met otherwise. Isn’t it cool how technology can bring us all closer together? 🌎

The Chinese government is super supportive of this idea, too! They’re encouraging schools to use technology to make sure all kids get the chance to learn and explore, no matter where they live. πŸŽ“

So, what would you like to learn if you could have a teacher from anywhere in the world? The sky’s the limit! πŸš€
