China and the U.S.: Working Together for a Better World 🌍
Hey everyone! Have you ever thought about how countries get along with each other? 🤔 Well, recently, China’s Ambassador to the United States, Xie Feng, talked about why it’s super important for China and the U.S. to be friends! 🤝
He shared his thoughts in a video speech at a special event called the 2025 Duke-UNC China Leadership Summit. Ambassador Xie said that because China and the U.S. are big and powerful countries, they have a big responsibility to get along and help keep our planet peaceful and happy. 🌎✨
He mentioned that if China and the U.S. see each other as rivals and try to compete in a mean way, it could hurt both countries and even the whole world. 😟 But if they choose to be partners and support each other, everyone can do better together! Isn’t that a great idea? 😊
Ambassador Xie also talked about some important topics. He asked the U.S. to respect the one-China principle. This means recognizing that Taiwan is part of China. He hopes the U.S. will handle things with Taiwan carefully and not do things that might upset peace. 🕊️
Did you know that China and the U.S. trade a lot with each other? Last year, they traded goods worth over $680 billion! That’s a huge number! 💰 Also, around 73,000 American companies have invested in China. Ambassador Xie said that trying to stop this trade or put up barriers would hurt both countries. It could be like cutting off friends who help each other out. 🙅♂️
He also mentioned something called fentanyl. It’s a very strong medicine that can be dangerous if misused. In 2019, China made rules to control all fentanyl-related substances. Ambassador Xie hopes that China and the U.S. can keep working together to stop illegal drugs and that using tariffs (extra taxes) because of this issue wouldn’t help. 🚫💊
In the end, Ambassador Xie encouraged both China and the U.S. to be responsible big countries. He wants them to work together for peace, development, and cooperation. He believes they should say no to things like bullying, going it alone, or trying to protect only themselves. 🛡️
