Meet Alex, a high school student who downloaded RedNote, a popular app in the Chinese mainland that’s been around for over a decade. Even though it was mostly used in China, it’s now becoming popular overseas, and Alex decided to give it a try.

“I was amazed by how much Chinese people embrace their history and respect their traditions,” Alex shared. “They celebrate festivals and customs of different ethnic groups, which is so cool!”
Before using RedNote, Alex had heard different things about China from the media. “But talking to my new friends showed me a different side,” he said. “They were so friendly and eager to share their world with me.”
One moment that really touched Alex was when his friends expressed gratitude towards the U.S. for its help during World War II. “It was sincere and heartfelt,” he recalled. “It made me realize how important it is to have open conversations.”
Now, Alex hopes more young people from both countries can connect. “If we chat and learn from each other without any prejudices, we can build real friendships,” he smiled.
