🌍 Did you know? In some parts of the world, people are struggling to get enough food. Today, we’re talking about what’s happening in a place called Darfur, in the country of Sudan.
The United Nations (or UN for short), which is a group of countries working together to make the world a better place, has said that some soldiers called the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are blocking help from reaching people who really need it in Darfur.
🚫 The RSF are a group of fighters in Sudan. Since April 2023, they have been fighting against the regular army in Sudan. They control most of Darfur, which is a big region in the western part of the country, about the size of France!
The UN is worried because the RSF are stopping food and other important supplies from getting to the people in Darfur. Many people there are very hungry, and some places are even facing a famine. A famine is when there’s not enough food for people, and it can be very dangerous, especially for kids.
😟 Clementine Nkweta-Salami, a leader from the UN, said, “It is unacceptable that we can’t get help to the people who need it the most.” She wants the RSF to let the aid workers bring food and supplies to the people in Darfur.
Right now, nearly seven million people in Darfur don’t have enough to eat. Imagine if everyone in a big city didn’t have enough food! That’s a lot of people who need help. 🍞🥛
The fighting in Sudan has caused many problems. Lots of people have had to leave their homes, and many are going hungry. The UN is asking for the fighting groups to let aid workers do their jobs and help the people.
🙏 Let’s hope that the people in Darfur get the help they need soon.
