Rwandan and DRC leaders to meet over eastern DRC conflict

Rwanda and DRC Leaders Meet to Bring Peace to Eastern Congo

Big Meeting to Help Bring Peace in Africa 😊

Hey there! Did you know that in Africa, some leaders are getting together to try to make things better?

The presidents of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (that’s a big country in Africa, also called the DRC), are meeting in Tanzania. They’re talking with other leaders to stop fighting in the eastern part of the DRC.

There’s a group called M23. Some people say they are causing trouble by taking over parts of eastern DRC. Many families have had to leave their homes because of this. It’s been going on for a long time, and everyone wants it to stop.

President Paul Kagame of Rwanda arrived in the city of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania for the meeting. But President Felix Tshisekedi of the DRC couldn’t come in person, so he’s joining by video call.

Leaders from Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe are also there to help. They’re all part of teams called the East African Community and the Southern African Development Community. It’s like a big group project to bring peace! ✌️

In the past, they’ve tried to make peace, but it hasn’t worked out yet. They’re hoping this time will be different.

There’s a bit of a disagreement. The DRC thinks Rwanda is helping the M23 group, but Rwanda says they are not. Rwanda also says that the DRC is helping another group called the FDLR, which has a sad history connected to the 1994 Rwandan genocide (a very bad time when many people were hurt).

Everyone is hoping that by talking things out, they can find a way to bring peace to the area and help people live safely in their homes again. Let’s hope they can make a difference! 🤞
