Hong Kong Challenges U.S. Tariffs at WTO 🌐
Guess what? The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) is standing up to the United States! 🇭🇰💪
On Friday, the HKSAR government announced it will complain to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Why? Because the U.S. has added extra taxes, called tariffs, on products from Hong Kong.
The U.S. is charging an extra 10% on things made in Hong Kong. That’s like making Hong Kong’s goods more expensive in the U.S.
Hong Kong says this isn’t fair and goes against WTO rules. They also say it ignores Hong Kong’s special trade status. Did you know that Hong Kong has its own customs territory? That means it trades separately from the Chinese mainland.
The HKSAR government plans to use the WTO’s rules to challenge the U.S. and protect their rights.
