China has just completed the delivery of a super-powerful rocket engine called the Liqing-2. This engine was developed by a company called CAS Space.
So, what’s so special about the Liqing-2? 🤔
Well, it’s a liquid oxygen kerosene engine, which means it uses liquid oxygen and kerosene as fuel to create a big push, or thrust. Imagine blowing up a balloon and letting it go—the air rushing out makes it zoom around. In rockets, engines like the Liqing-2 make them zoom into space! 🌌
The Liqing-2 engine is really strong. It can produce a thrust of up to 110 tonnes! That’s like the weight of about 18 elephants pushing the rocket upwards! 🐘🐘🐘
This engine uses something called “pin injection” in its gas generator and thrust chamber. Pin injection helps the engine burn fuel more efficiently, making the rocket fly better.
The Liqing-2 will be used in the first stage of the company’s Lijian series rockets. These rockets have already launched 57 satellites into space over five missions! 🛰️
