Hey there, young ocean explorers! ๐ณ๐
Did you know that China has an incredible deep-sea submarine called Jiaolong? Named after a mythical sea dragon ๐, Jiaolong can dive deeper than 7,000 meters into the ocean! That’s like diving past 2,300 school buses stacked on top of each other! ๐
Right now, Jiaolong is getting some super cool upgrades ๐ to get ready for new deep-sea missions this year. Technicians are improving important parts, like its lithium battery system ๐, to help it explore even more of the mysterious underwater world.
But that’s not all! There’s also a research ship called Dayang Yihao (which means Ocean No. 1 ๐ข). It’s China’s first modern scientific research vessel and has been sailing the seas for over 40 years! ๐ It has gone on 27 amazing ocean expeditions, helping scientists learn all about the ocean.
Ocean No. 1 is also getting upgrades! They’re adding special remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) ๐ค that can dive deep and explore places humans can’t go. These robots will help scientists discover new things and maybe even find hidden treasures! ๐ดโโ ๏ธ
Jiaolong will be doing some important tests soon. In February, it will have tank tests, and in March, it’ll have sea trials in the South China Sea. How exciting! ๐
These upgrades mean Jiaolong and Ocean No. 1 will be better than ever at exploring the deep ocean. Who knows what amazing discoveries they’ll make next? Maybe one day, you’ll be the scientist steering them into the unknown! ๐
