China Media Group (or CMG for short) hosted a special event called the “Prelude to the Spring Festival Gala” at the United Nations Office in Nairobi. Over 300 people came to join the fun, including officials, diplomats, and people who love culture and celebrations! ๐ŸŽŠ

In a video message, Mr. Shen Haixiong, the president of CMG, talked about how more and more people around the world are enjoying the Chinese New Year. In fact, about one-fifth of the world’s population celebrates it in different ways! Isn’t that amazing? ๐Ÿฅณ

The Chinese New Year has even been listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, which means it’s recognized as an important tradition to be shared and protected. ๐ŸŒŸ

At the Nairobi event, Ms. Zainab Hawa Bangura, a United Nations official, said the Spring Festival is a special cultural symbol for people all over the world. She wished everyone peace, prosperity, and happiness during the holiday. ๐Ÿ’–

There were also amazing performances! The Shaolin Monk Troupe showed off their incredible kung fu skills. They come all the way from the famous Shaolin Temple in China’s Henan Province. ๐Ÿฅ‹ People also enjoyed exciting acrobatics like plate spinning and bowl balancing, and learned about traditional arts like making dough figurines. How cool is that? ๐ŸŽญ

This fantastic event was shared by lots of media across Africa, reaching over 600 million people in countries like Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Nigeria, and Tanzania. ๐ŸŒ That’s a lot of people sharing in the joy of the Chinese New Year!
