Powerful Earthquake Strikes Xizang, China: 95 Lives Lost

A big earthquake has shaken Xizang, China, leading to the loss of many lives.

On Tuesday at 9:05 a.m., a strong earthquake of magnitude 6.8 hit Dingri County in the city of Xigaze, located in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region.

By 3 p.m. that day, it was reported that 95 people had sadly lost their lives and 130 others were injured.

About 6,900 people live within 20 kilometers of where the earthquake happened. Over 1,000 houses have been damaged in different ways.

Brave rescuers are working hard in the cold weather, searching through the rubble to find survivors. They are doing everything they can to help those in need.
