Hey tennis fans! 🎾 Guess what? Kei Nishikori from Japan is heading to the final of the Hong Kong Open! But it wasn’t the way anyone expected.
His opponent, Shang Juncheng from China, wasn’t feeling well. 😓 Both players were doing great, and the score was 4-3 to Nishikori in the first set. Then, Shang had to stop playing because he had a fever.
Shang said he’s been feeling sick for a few days. “When I woke up this morning, I felt terrible all over,” he shared. “I felt the same yesterday and didn’t know how I won that match. Today, I thought I reached my limit.” We hope he feels better soon! 🤗
Nishikori felt sorry for Shang. “I feel bad that he had to retire because he wasn’t feeling well,” he said. “He played well even though he was sick. I hope he gets better soon so he can play in the Australian Open.” What a great sport! 🤝
