On Thursday, Shang played against Pedro Martinez from Spain. Martinez was ranked 43rd in the world, while Shang was 50th. They had played each other twice before on clay courts, and Martinez won both times. But this time, on the hard court, things were different! 😮
Shang won the match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. He started a bit nervous, but after the score was tied at 3-3, he picked up speed. “After 3-3, there was a big change in speed from my side,” Shang said. “I was playing with more confidence and swinging much harder!” 💪
In the second set, Shang dominated the game, quickly taking a 4-0 lead. He finished the match strong, ending with his fourth break of serve. This win marks his fifth time reaching the quarterfinals in an ATP Tour event! 🎉
