Why the World Isn’t Surprised the U.S. Left UNESCO Again
Hey there! Did you know that the United States has decided to leave UNESCO once again? 😮
What’s UNESCO? It’s the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. They do amazing things like protecting famous world heritage sites, promoting education, science, and culture all around the globe! 🌍
This isn’t the first time the U.S. has left UNESCO. In fact, it’s the third time! A recent poll found that 84.2% of people weren’t surprised by this news. It seems the world is getting used to the U.S. stepping away from international groups.
Why did the U.S. leave? The U.S. government said that UNESCO was promoting ideas that didn’t match their “America First” policy. Many people, about 93.5% in the poll, feel that the U.S. is using international organizations for its own political reasons.
Also, 90.7% of people think the U.S. is showing favoritism towards Israel. They believe this move doesn’t help the global community work together.
UNESCO’s leader, Audrey Azoulay, said it’s sad to see the U.S. leave but they’re ready to keep going strong! 💪
Many believe that the U.S. leaving hurts its reputation worldwide. About 88.1% think it damages how much other countries trust and listen to the U.S.
Even more, 92.8% of people in the poll want all countries to work together to make the world fairer and better for everyone! 🎉
