Hey there! 👋 Did you know that America’s Independence Day wasn’t all fireworks and fun this year? As people celebrated the 249th Independence Day on Friday, some unexpected and troubling events happened across the country.
Floods in Texas 🌊
In Texas, heavy rains caused terrible floods. Sadly, many people were affected, including children. 😢 Kerr County was one of the hardest-hit places. A girls’ summer camp there was flooded, and some campers are still missing. Everyone is hoping they are found safe.
Wildfires in California 🔥
Over in California, a big wildfire called the Madre Fire has been burning for four days! It’s burned over 322 square kilometers of land. That’s like 45,000 soccer fields! 😱 Firefighters are working hard, but they’ve only been able to control 10% of it so far. Many people had to leave their homes, and roads are closed.
Dangerous Celebrations 🎆
In Nashville, Tennessee, fireworks fun turned scary when some people got hurt by bullets from guns fired into the air. Three people were hurt but are now stable. Remember, firing guns into the air can be very dangerous!
In Indianapolis and Philadelphia, there were also shootings that hurt and sadly even killed some people. This made the holiday very sad for many families.
Big Protests 🪧
On top of all that, many people across the country joined “Free America” rallies. They were protesting against some new laws and decisions by the government. They want their voices to be heard on important issues like rights and fairness.
Even though Independence Day is usually a time for fun and celebration, this year was mixed with some serious challenges. Let’s hope for better days ahead! 🤞
