Top European companies urge European Commission to halt AI Act

European Tech Giants Ask for a Pause on AI Rules

Hey there! Have you heard about Artificial Intelligence, or AI? It’s like teaching computers to think and learn like humans! ๐Ÿš€

Recently, almost 50 big companies in Europe, like the makers of Airbus airplanes and Mercedes-Benz cars, asked the European Commission (that’s like the government for Europe) to pause some new rules about AI.

Why? Well, these companies are worried that the new rules are too complicated. They think it might make it hard for Europe to keep up with other parts of the world in creating awesome AI technology.

They wrote a letter to Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, asking for a two-year pause on the AI Act. They want to make sure the rules are friendly to new ideas and inventions!

The AI Act is a set of rules that tells companies how they can use and develop AI. Europe was the first in the world to make such rules! But some people think these rules might slow down cool new AI projects.

These companies hope that by taking a little more time to think about the rules, Europe can stay competitive in the global race to make the best AI. ๐Ÿค–โœจ

What do you think about this? Should they pause the rules or keep going?
