Hey tennis fans! Let’s talk about an exciting match at Wimbledon. China’s rising tennis star, Wang Xinyu, played a tough game against Zeynep Sonmez from Türkiye in the second round.

The match was intense! Both players showed amazing skills. In the first set, they kept breaking each other’s serves. That means they won games when the other player was serving, which is usually harder to do! Sonmez managed to win the first set 7-5.

In the second set, it was super close again. They were tied at 5-5! But then, Sonmez played really aggressively and took the set 7-5, winning the match.

After the game, Wang Xinyu said, “I think she played really well today, especially in her returns and baseline game. I didn’t get any easy points.” She felt that even though the match was close, there were things she could have done better. “I did the best I could,” she added.

Did you know? Just last month, Wang Xinyu reached her first Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour final at the Berlin Open! Even though she didn’t win this time, she’s definitely a player to watch.

As for Zeynep Sonmez, this win means she has reached her best result ever in a Grand Slam tournament by moving into the round of 32! That’s pretty awesome!

Iga Swiatek’s Comeback Victory 🌟

In another exciting match, Iga Swiatek, a former world No. 1, faced Caty McNally from the United States. Swiatek lost the first set 5-7 but fought back brilliantly to win the next two sets 6-2 and 6-1!

Swiatek said after the match, “I knew that at the start of the second set I had to be more accurate. I just tried to improve and I’m happy it worked.”

She has now reached the third round at Wimbledon, showing her consistency and determination. Way to go!
