Earthquake of Magnitude 5.7 Hits Deep Under Fiji Islands 🌏

Hey everyone! Did you hear about the big earthquake near the Fiji Islands? 🌊 On Wednesday, a magnitude-5.7 earthquake shook deep beneath the ocean, about 530 kilometers underground! That’s deeper than 500 skyscrapers stacked on top of each other! 🏒

What Happened?

Earthquakes happen when giant pieces of Earth’s crust, called tectonic plates, move and bump into each other. This one was so deep that most people probably didn’t feel a thing. Phew! πŸ˜…

The China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) reported the quake. Scientists all around the world keep an eye on Earth’s movements to help keep us safe and informed.

Why Fiji?

The Fiji Islands are part of what’s called the “Ring of Fire.” πŸ”₯ It’s a horseshoe-shaped area around the Pacific Ocean where lots of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions happen.
