Recently, Mr. Xie Feng, who is China’s ambassador to the United States and a special representative at the Organization of American States (that’s like a big club where countries talk about important things), went to a meeting in St. John’s, the capital city of Antigua and Barbuda. 🇦🇬
At this meeting, Mr. Xie said that China and the countries in Latin America and the Caribbean have a lot in common. They both want to grow, develop, and help their people live better lives! 🏙️🌱
Did you know that President Xi Jinping of China has visited Latin America and the Caribbean six times in the past ten years? That’s a lot of visits! ✈️ He cares a lot about building friendships with these countries.
Just last month, there was a big meeting where China and these countries talked about working together on five special programs: Solidarity (helping each other out), Development (growing together), Civilization (learning from each other), Peace (keeping things calm and happy), and People-to-People Connectivity (making friends!). ✋🤝
Mr. Xie said that when the world is facing problems like countries not getting along or raising barriers (like unfair rules), it’s important for China and Latin American and Caribbean countries to stick together. They want to show the world how to cooperate and be good friends, especially as part of the “Global South” (countries that are developing and growing). 🌐❤️
He also mentioned that China’s friendship with these countries isn’t about wanting anything in return or making them pick sides. It’s just about working together to make the world better! 🌍✨
China supports these countries in standing up for themselves and doesn’t like it when big countries try to boss smaller ones around. China hopes that these countries will also support China in important matters. 🙌
